“Sound of Science” describes the essence of our work at SECO Sensor: the combination of acoustic technology and scientific excellence. Ultrasound is not just sound, but a key to precise measurement, control and automation in a wide range of industrial sectors.
In this article, we take you on a journey through the world of ultrasonic transducers, their importance for modern technologies, and how SECO Sensor brings the “Sound of Science” to life with scientific expertise and decades of experience.
SECO Sensor stands for scientific excellence and maximum precision in air ultrasonic technology. Our product portfolio includes high-quality ultrasonic transducers that are specially developed for applications in air and gases – with an annual production volume of over 700,000 parts that are used worldwide in a wide variety of industries.
Our ultrasonic transducers are available in numerous standard specifications, but can also be customised to meet even the most demanding measurement tasks. This includes adaptable housing designs, contacts, additional components and individual electroacoustic tuning. In practice, this means that we not only develop standard solutions, but also support our customers from the concept phase through prototype construction to series production – even small series starting at a quantity of 1 are possible.
Ultrasound is invisible – but indispensable. Its advantages lie in contactless measurement, which makes the technology ideal for sensitive or hazardous media. Ultrasound measures with high precision and delivers results accurate to the millimetre, even under difficult conditions.
Ultrasound is a key technology in numerous industrial applications – especially when it comes to contactless, robust and reliable measuring systems. The measurements are independent of material properties, surface colour, lighting conditions or dust.
This makes ultrasound ideal for a wide range of critical industrial processes – from distance measurement and object detection to level control. Typical measuring ranges are between a few centimetres and several metres.
In industrial automation, ultrasonic transducers enable reliable detection of distances and presences, even at high processing speeds and with changing materials. In anemometry, they provide precise data on wind speed and wind direction – for example, in wind turbines. Four transducers in a 90° design enable real-time measurements even under extreme weather conditions. They are also indispensable in medical technology and gas flow measurement for determining flow velocity and volume flow.
Ultrasonic solutions also play an important role in the printing industry and label counting, where they are used to accurately detect web edges or check material positions in high-speed processes.
Air ultrasound is therefore an essential technology for industries where precision, reliability and maintenance-free operation are crucial. And SECO Sensor supplies the key components for this.
Since 1996, SECO Sensor has stood for innovation, specialisation and a passion for the continuous development of ultrasonic technology. As a medium-sized company based in Coburg, we have delivered millions of ultrasonic transducers worldwide over the past three decades, reliably solving measurement tasks in a wide variety of industries.
From the very beginning, we have pursued the same goal: translating scientific excellence into compact, robustly manufactured products – ‘Sound of Science’ in the truest sense of the word. For us, this means not only manufacturing ultrasonic transducers, but also passionately pursuing their technical perfection: highly trained production staff create top-quality ultrasonic transducers from select materials and optimised electroacoustic designs.
Many transducer components are manufactured in-house or sourced from carefully selected suppliers to ensure the highest quality. At the same time, we are continuously developing our portfolio – for example, with the world’s smallest ultrasonic transducer with an installation diameter of only 6 mm or lead-free variants for sustainable applications.
For us, innovation also means dialogue: we maintain close, technically sound communication with our customers, develop solutions together and take individual measurement requirements into account right from the initial concept stage. This partnership-based approach has shaped our corporate culture for three decades.
Today, SECO Sensor is a globally recognised specialist in air ultrasonic transducers. And even after 30 years, we remain true to our vision: to make science audible and transform the power of ultrasound into measurable excellence.
That is our ‘Sound of Science’ – yesterday, today and in the future.
For 30 years, we have been living the ‘Sound of Science’ and combining our experience in ultrasound technology with innovation and scientific expertise. We advise you from the initial idea, through prototype construction, to series production – personally and on equal terms.
Would you like to learn more about ultrasonic transducers or need help selecting the perfect product for your specific application? We would be happy to advise you and look forward to your enquiry.
