A SECO Sensor decision aid:
Based on 100+ customer projects in 2024
It starts with our tried-and-tested material concept consisting of specially developed and in-house produced acoustic matching materials, self-assembled strands and high-quality potting compounds according to our own recipes. These innovative materials enable fine, individual tuning of the electro-acoustic properties of the transducer and ensure optimum sound transmission.
Another key to the outstanding quality of our ultrasonic transducers is the use of premium PZT ceramics (piezoelectric materials) – preferably from German suppliers. These advanced ceramics, made from a material specially specified for SECO Sensor, are crucial for the effectiveness of the ultrasonic transducers, as they have a high quality and low fluctuations. This guarantees that sensors with our transducers work reliably and accurately even in the most demanding measurement environments.
Our expertise is not limited to materials. We have decades of experience in the development and series production of ultrasonic transducers for air and gases. The know-how of our product managers and our production staff enables us to offer customized solutions for a wide range of applications. Whether you need ultrasonic transducers for distance measurement, double sheet control or wind measurement – we have the experience and the technology to support you with your individual measurement task.
Our customers know that the quality of the ultrasonic transducer is a decisive factor for the overall quality of their sensors. With ultrasonic transducers from SECO Sensor, you can be sure that your sensors will deliver reliable and accurate measurement results even under extreme environmental conditions or in challenging installation situations.
Our aim is to build high-quality, durable and robust ultrasonic transducers with outstanding electro-acoustic properties. We pay particular attention to the four main components: piezo disk, matching material, potting compound and stranded wire. With many years of experience, we manufacture our own material for this or source it from reliable suppliers with the highest quality standards. In this way, we ensure that our customers receive only the best products – with every ultrasonic transducer that leaves our company.
We source our piezoceramic transducers from selected suppliers with above-average quality standards – preferably from Germany. They are characterized by high efficiency and minimal geometric and electrical tolerances.
We produce our matching material in-house according to our own proven recipes. To achieve the best possible results, we use a particularly light, pressure-resistant epoxy filled with hollow glass beads, which is subject to only minimal fluctuations compared to products from external suppliers.
Potting with our specially formulated, soft-elastic polyurethane foams gives your transducer both mechanical stability and excellent structure-borne sound suppression – especially in cold conditions. We use customized potting compound recipes to achieve optimum acoustic parameters, adapted to your requirements.
We mainly assemble our coaxial, Teflon and PVC strands ourselves. This enables us to ensure the highest quality and implement customer-specific adaptations quickly and easily. Short delivery times are also possible for special sizes. Our direct access to the production process allows us to carry out close checks and ensure consistently high strand quality, e.g. in accordance with IPC-A-610, class 3.
About us
SECO Sensor develops and manufactures its ultrasonic transducers entirely in-house – Made in Germany. Every step, from the careful selection of materials to the final quality inspection, is under our direct control.
Your advantages:
Do you need support in selecting the right ultrasonic transducer? Do you need a customer-specific adaptation or an individual new development for an unusually complex measurement idea?
We will be happy to advise you and look forward to your inquiry!
Managing Director
For almost thirty years, we have specialized in the development and production of air ultrasonic transducers. Our transducers are characterized by their high flexibility and resistance in numerous sensory measurement tasks. Even adverse measuring conditions have no negative effect on the measurement result. For use in particularly demanding environments (salt, cold, heat, chemicals), we equip your transducer with a water- and dirt-repellent coating on the front surface or an additional heater, or adapt the material of our components to the corresponding area of application. Find out more about our design options.
Using ultrasonic waves, our transducers – like bats – determine the presence or distance of a reflective object. They also obtain information about the nature and state of movement of a reflector or transport medium. Depending on their size, our transducers operate at nominal frequencies ranging from 80 to 500 kHz and achieve ranges of 2 centimetres to 8 meters, depending on the measurement task. The electro-acoustic properties of your transducer – as well as the physical design – can be adapted to the boundary conditions of your measurement task. Find out more about our standard products or browse through our special solutions.
The functionality of our ultrasonic transducers depends crucially on the quality of the piezo ceramic, the matching material and the potting compound. We obtain our piezo ceramics – specially formulated for us – from our main supplier in Germany. We manufacture the matching material in-house according to proven recipes. For the damping matrix, we use complex potting compound systems that we have optimized over decades of experience. We also assemble our strands in-house. This enables us to adapt all components flexibly, quickly and easily to individual customer requirements.
Our product range is divided into three transducer types. Their functionality is based on the same technology, which we have further developed with regard to special application benefits. We distinguish between multi-use transducer, directional and pulsed transducers. Our multi-use transducer are flexible all-rounders whose electro-acoustic properties we have taken to a new level with the further developed SC5X series. You can find out which transducer types are best suited to your application here.
We are also happy to create new products for unusual measuring tasks, adapt your transducers to your specific application as part of a customization or further develop our existing products. Talk to us! We are looking forward to the challenge.
