Ultrasonic transducer:

Individually developed ultrasonic transducers

Your visionary measuring task deserves an equally innovative transducer solution

When standard solutions reach their limits, we work with you to develop the next generation of ultrasonic transducers – from basic research to series production.
  • New development – strategic redesign of the ultrasonic transducer from the ground up
  • FEM simulation – pre-development and electro-acoustic design using model simulation
  • Raw material selection – New material concept for implementing customer-specific specifications
  • Confidentiality – responsible treatment of your idea, with NDA on request
  • Development partnership – constructive cooperation on an equal footing

Our special solutions

Every ultrasonic application has its own individual challenges. It is often necessary to adapt the perfect solutions to the respective area of application. The parameters in the data sheet do not fully meet your expectations? Do you need something special? Talk to us! Together we will find the right solution for your individual application.

Extra long range

Do you want to cover long distances?

Here we choose a resonant, focused transducer with a low excitation frequency, a large radiation area and a small beam width. By optimizing the installation, transducer geometry and material properties, we can also extend the measuring range. This makes ranges of up to 8 meters possible (depending on the customer’s excitation and operating mode).

Particularly good EMC

Do you need a high level of electromagnetic compatibility?

In addition to the option of encapsulating your transducer in a sheet metal shield, it is also possible to optimize the EMC properties by using the shortest possible strands, a coaxial strand or an additional shielding strand on the housing. Metallization of the matching material body or the use of our EMC lacquer also leads to improved electromagnetic compatibility.

Very short ringout

Do you want to measure at a high repetition rate?

Here we choose a pulsed transducer. Due to the high internal damping, the pulsed transducer reaches its maximum amplitude with a very short excitation signal. Due to the short decay time, the transducer can be operated at a high repetition rate. Also the addition of a highly damping component to the potting compound shortens the decay time.

Integrated heating

Reliable measurements below freezing point?

We will be happy to upgrade your ultrasonic transducer with a suitable heater. In addition, we reduce the structure-borne noise that occurs at low temperatures with an adapted casting compound and optimized installation.

Frequency selection

Do you have special requirements for the frequency range?

For applications with particularly tight tolerances, we can manufacture your transducers frequency-selected on request. This offers particular advantages, for example, when using four transducers in one anemometer or several transducers in an array design.

Desired frequency

Does your application require a specific frequency?

We adapt the operating frequency of your transducer by making specific changes to the transducer design. Before building a prototype, it is also possible to calculate the optimized properties of your transducer using FEM simulation.

Maximum sensitivity

High signal voltage is the most important thing?

Here we recommend a focused transducer or a multi-use transducer. We are also happy to increase the signal voltage by adjusting the geometry or modifying the potting compound.

Operation up to 120°C

When things get heated…

Do you work in environments with high heat input? For the use of our transducers between +75 and +120°C, we can equip our transducers with more robust strands and a more temperature-stable potting compound on request.

Direct mounting

Do you already have a housing or an assembly?

For complex installation situations, for optimum tightness or an existing housing, we offer direct mounting of the transducers in your assembly. This allows the transducer to be optimally aligned with the reference geometry.

Printing applications

Efficient even under pressure.

Our ultrasonic transducers work reliably at ambient pressures of up to 10 bar. For even higher pressures, we offer various special solutions, such as mounting on a glass feedthrough.

Functional coating

Does your transducer need an additional coating?

For improved electromagnetic compatibility, we coat our fitting material body with metallization. It is also possible to seal the transducer front surface with our scratch-resistant, dirt-repellent protective coating.

Individual contacting

Stranded wire, pins or plugs?

We manufacture our transducers with twisted Teflon or PVC strands as standard. Our excellently shielded coaxial strands are suitable for optimized EMC or for greater distances between the transducer and the electronics. We are also happy to provide your transducer with solder pads or pins in the typical 5 mm pitch. This enables simple mounting on a printed circuit board.

Our experienced team – for your success

“We develop an innovative solution for almost every measuring task. Individual support and intensive discussions with our customers are particularly important to us. From the initial idea to prototype construction and series production, we rely on a close exchange of ideas and qualified technical advice.”

Eugen Gergert, Managing Director of SECO Sensor

“For offshore systems, we also equip our anemometer transducers with an optional scratch-resistant, water and dirt-repellent protective coating. This prevents droplet formation on the surface and icing of the front surface.”
