Our assortment – our transducer types
The ultrasonic transducer is the heart of an ultrasonic sensor. It is the link between the sensor electronics and the measuring environment.
At SECO, we specialize in the development and manufacture of ultrasonic transducers for use in air and gaseous media. Our transducers are robust. They work reliably even in dust, fog, reflective surfaces and darkness. Depending on the size, they operate at nominal frequencies in a range from typically 80 to 500 kHz and achieve ranges from 2 centimetres to 8 meters, depending on the measurement task.
Multi-use transducer
Multi-use transducer are our flexible all-rounders.
They consist of a piezo ceramic and a matching material disk and are extensively customizable in terms of housing, contacting and additional features.
Key data:
- Compact design and small diameters
- High echo voltage and long range
- Fast swing-out
- Very large beam width
- Focusable sound beam (optional)
- Cost-effective design
Our tip:
Our 300 kHz- multi-use transducer are ideal for anemometry applications.

Focused transducers
Focused ultrasonic transducers are the perfect choice for long ranges.
Here we add a metal ring to the piezoceramic and matching material disk structure.
Key data:
- Well-focused sound beam
- Small beam width
- Maximum sound paths
- High quality with high echo voltage
- Slightly longer decay time
- Narrowest frequency bandwidth
Our tip:
We produce focused ultrasonic transducers in robust metal housings as standard.

Pulsed transducer
Pulsed transducers are our professionals for fast measurements at close range.
Key data:
- Fastest settling and decay time
- Excitation with pulse or a few cycles
- Very high repetition rates
- Short measuring distances
Our tip:
Due to its wide frequency bandwidth, the pulsed transducer can be operated with different excitation principles: at discrete operating frequencies, with sweep or pulse excitation.

Three transducer types – an optimal solution for every application
The variety of modern transducer types reflects the technological progress in ultrasonic measurement technology. Whether in industrial production, environmental monitoring or safety-relevant applications – the requirements for sensors are as varied as their areas of use. The transducer types used must be correspondingly differentiated. From flexibly deployable multi-use transducer to high-performance focused transducers and highly dynamic pulsed transducers: each type offers specific advantages in terms of range, sound beam focusing, decay behavior and frequency bandwidth. This technical diversity makes it possible to tailor measurement solutions precisely to their respective application.
Ultrasonic transducers are therefore more than just components – they play a decisive role in defining the performance of a sensor system. At SECO Sensor, all three transducer types are constantly being further developed. The close integration of simulation, material expertise and many years of application experience results in solutions that are optimally tailored to customer requirements. In addition to acoustic properties, factors such as size, robustness and environmental resistance also play a key role. The aim is always to provide the right transducer types for every application – efficient, reliable and future-proof.
